About the One Planet Centre and the One Planet Standard

The One Planet Centre is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (Company Number 12510450) based in Carmarthenshire, Wales, founded by David Thorpe, a well-known author, lecturer and consultant in the fields of rural and urban sustainability, energy management and renewable energy. He is the author of ‘The ßOne Planet Life’ and ‘One Planet Cities’ published by Routledge.

Its purpose is to help organisations (public and private), communities and individuals learn how live within the planetary boundaries to reduce their ecological footprint and support regenerative culture. We offer workshops, tools, training, communication, consultancy, and advice.

We promote well-being, sustainable communities, social and natural capital. We advocate consideration of the ‘triple bottom line’ – social, economic and environmental.

The One Planet Centre is seeking to create a ‘Community of Interest’ that can share ideas and build a network with other likeminded organisations and individuals. It is envisaged that this will take the form of a ‘One Planet Club’ or Association that will bring people together.

The One Planet Standard is for organisations private and public to adopt. Such organisations would commit to reducing their ecological footprint to one planet over specified time period. The post holder will also be expected to contribute their skills towards marketing this exciting development.

We are an equal opportunities employer and actively encourage applications from disadvantaged communities and individuals.
