With the government and many councils declaring climate and extinction emergencies, administrators and policymakers are wondering how to react. This short distance learning postgraduate course provides many answers.

The One Planet Governance programme at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David is a Level 7 award that will provide a continual professional development opportunity for sustainable political, civic and public governance, administration and policymaking.

Participants will combine their own work with a fully online course and engage in collaborative learning with students from around the world.

They will come to understand the interrelated challenges facing them, and research their own specialisms as a practical case study.

They will learn about many examples of successful solutions around the world. Many of these are about building zero carbon local resilience, job creation, and the circular economy.

They will learn how to measure the effectiveness of actions to avoid wastage by critically examining the tools, standards and methodologies being implemented by different administrations around the world, across different sectors.

As a special feature, students will undertake an in-depth study of the implementation and efficacy of the groundbreaking Welsh Well-Being of Future Generations Act. Other UK administrations are considering developing such an Act themselves.

A central text will be a new book, One Planet Cities. To find out more information and apply, click here.
