We’re proud to announce that Jane Davidson has agreed to become a non-executive director of the One Planet Centre.

Jane Davidson, One Planet Centre

This is especially pertinent because it was Jane, as Wales’ Environment and Sustainability Minister (2007-2011) in the Welsh Assembly Government, who oversaw the introduction of the Well-Being of Future Generations Act, the One Wales One Planet policy, and the One Planet Development planning policy.

She was also responsible for the One Planet Centre’s director, David Thorpe, writing the One Planet Life book, which set in motion the train of events leading to the formation of the Centre. Without her it would not have happened.

David said: “I’m over the moon that Jane agreed, spontaneously and enthusiastically. She has been such a passionate and enthusiastic advocate of one planet principles, and genuinely sustainable governance, throughout her political life, and has been an inspiration to me and many others.”

She has been Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for External Engagement and Sustainability and Director of INSPIRE, (Institute for Sustainability Practice, Innovation and Resource Effectiveness) at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David. Jane is passionate about the environment and resource efficiency.

She holds honorary fellowships from CIW (Chartered Institute of Waste) and CIWEM (Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management) and is a member of WWF’s UK Council of Ambassadors. She is Patron of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and Tools for Self-reliance Cymru (TFSR), and with her husband Guy cultivates a smallholding in their solar-powered home in West Wales.
