{"id":131,"date":"2016-12-13T10:14:37","date_gmt":"2016-12-13T10:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theoneplanetlife.com\/?p=131"},"modified":"2016-12-13T10:15:14","modified_gmt":"2016-12-13T10:15:14","slug":"the-23-one-planet-developments-in-wales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theoneplanetlife.com\/cy\/the-23-one-planet-developments-in-wales\/","title":{"rendered":"The 23 One Planet Developments in Wales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Stefan Cartwright.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There have been 23 planning applications that have been passed under Wales&#8217;\u00a0&#8216;One Planet&#8217; Development Policy since its inception in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>As of 22 November\u00a02016 there were ten\u00a0approved applications, comprising thirteen\u00a0individual OPDs.<\/p>\n<p>In addition there are nine &#8216;One Planet&#8217; plots at the <a href=\"http:\/\/lammas.org.uk\/ecovillage\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lammas Eco Village<\/a> in Glandwr, plus\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenapplecross.com\/\">John Hargrave\u2019s Green Apple in Cosheston<\/a>, Pembrokeshire. Both of these were granted planning permission under Pembrokeshire\u2019s earlier, groundbreaking &#8216;low impact&#8217; Policy 52, which is actually harder to satisfy\u00a0than the Welsh government&#8217;s subsequent policy guidelines, <a href=\"http:\/\/gov.wales\/topics\/planning\/policy\/tans\/tan6\/?lang=en\">TAN 6<\/a>, which defines One Planet Development in the open countryside in Wales.<\/p>\n<p>This makes a total of <strong>twenty three\u00a0individual One Planet Development smallholdings<\/strong>. Here they are, with links to their five year management plans, as submitted in order to win\u00a0planning permission.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>Bryn yr Blodau<\/strong><\/b><strong>:<\/strong> Samara Hawthorn&#8217;s application was at first refused at local level, and then issued with an enforcement notice by the Council. She appealed against the enforcement notice and won on the grounds that the original application should have been approved. Appeal reference 3142514. Decision date 18.11.2016\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oneplanetcouncil.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Bryn-yr-Blodau-Management-Plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Management Plan<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<li><b>Hafan Y Coed<\/b><strong>:<\/strong> Keith and Sam Burgess\u2019s\u00a0prospective\u00a0application for a One Planet Development eco-smallholding in Glandwr, Pembrokeshire. Their project centers around agro-forestry practices. Approved within only 3 months from time of submission by Local Panning Authority,\u00a0August 2016.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oneplanetcouncil.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/One-Planet-Development-Management-Plan-v6-Autosaved-Copy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Management Plan<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Golwg y Gwenyn:<\/strong>\u00a0The Watkinson family\u2019s prospective\u00a0application in Newport, Pembrokeshire is the first OPD to be granted full panning permission within a Welsh National Park. Recommended for approval by the LPA case officer and then going through by a narrow margin of 8 votes to 7 during the committee meeting in July 2016.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oneplanetcouncil.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/FULL-MANAGEMENT-PLAN-MAY16.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Management Plan<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Rhiw Las:<\/strong> is a group of four low-impact smallholdings located between Llanboidy and Whitland in Carmarthenshire. Approved by the local planning officer, subsequently refused by the local committee and finally approved on appeal by planning inspector Alwyn B Nixon in June 2016. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oneplanetcouncil.org.uk\/rhiw-las-opd-planning-appeal-success\/\" target=\"_blank\">Further details<\/a> on their case.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oneplanetcouncil.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Rhiw_Las_Management_Plan.pdf\"><em>Management Plan<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Land formerly known as Hebron Farm:<\/strong>\u00a0Salena Walker and Christopher Richard\u2019s prospective\u00a0application for a low-impact development\u00a0in Hebron, Carmarthenshire. Approved unanimously by committee November 2014.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oneplanetcouncil.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Smiths-OPD-Management-Plan-20142.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Parc y Dwr Managment Plan<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Nant y Cwm farm:\u00a0<\/strong>The Moody family\u2019s\u00a0retrospective application in Caerphilly for one livestock-based smallholding.
